What is it?
A Wireless-G Range Expander is a simple gadget that is utilized to progress the range of your wireless signal. The latest Wireless G Range Expanders (also called 'extenders') simply need to be plugged into a wall socket, without needing a direct cable or internet connection.
The gadget essentially "catches" the wireless signal sent by your wireless router, and relays it to a broader area than the router can cover. You have probably experienced why the wireless range extenders are useful... Office/home walls and distance from the router can quickly make the wireless signal week or nonexistent. They are favorite in a range of environments, ranging from a multi-story home, to an office, coffee shop, warehouse... Pretty much anywhere!
A wireless range extender doesn't replace the need for a 'wireless router' or 'access point', which is the gadget that needs the hard-line connection to the internet, and then converts the hard-line connection to a wireless signal.
What are my brand options?
Linksys, Belkin and Hawking are all reputable brands that produce these devices. As far as our recommendations go, if you already have a wireless router, buy the same name brand Wireless G Range Expander... To a layman, there isn't a dramatic divergence in functionality in the middle of the three choices above. If your router is a dissimilar name brand than those listed above, don't worry, the wireless range expanders are compatible with routers from D-Link and other brands. If you haven't already purchased a router, we advise you buy both the router and expander with the favorite Linksys brand... You can't go wrong.
How do I install it?
Most new versions of the wireless range extenders allow easy installation and configuration; it's as simple as plugging the wireless range expander into a socket within range of your main wireless signal, then pressing an auto-configuration button or entering your network Id, and the tool does the rest. Be sure to effect the instructions in case,granted in the packaging.
